I have a Word document that has parts that will not copy/paste. There is a jpeg image and an excel document embedded in the document. How can I get these into CU PolicyPro?

Graphics files or images (.jpeg, .gif, .png, etc) or embedded documents in a Word file will not copy/paste into the CU PolicyPro system.

Here a few options for dealing with this type of content:

  1. Graphic files or images can be uploaded and inserted into a policy, but the original file would need to be available. Please note that graphics files cannot be uploaded from the Word document, and cannot pulled from the Word document and saved locally.

  2. Embedded documents (word or excel) can usually be copied/pasted from the original document. With Excel files, you will need to be careful if the document is very wide from left to right – the content may get cut off on the right side. Please note that embedded PDF documents cannot be copied/pasted into the system.

  3. Content can be manually typed in the system – however, this can be time consuming and the end result may not look exactly the same as your document.

  4. If you need the document exactly as it is, it can be uploaded to the storage area, with a reference to the document in the policy in your manual. For instance your policy may say something like this: “Due to the complex nature of the content in the Lending Policy, the full policy content can be found in the “Manager [or Employee] Resources” folder of CU PolicyPro.”

  5. Look at your embedded images or documents carefully. Is that content really part of the policy, or is it reference or example material , or perhaps procedural in nature? Your embedded content may not need to be in your policy. If you have a rate matrix for example, your policy could say something like this: “The rate matrix in effect at the time of application will be used to set the rate for the loan.” An embedded document showing an example of that rate matrix may not be necessary.

    1. If you felt the examples were necessary, you could upload the Word documents through the storage area and refer to those documents in the policy. For example: “The rate matrix in effect at the time of application will be used to set the rate for the loan. See Document “Rate Matrix Example” found in the “Manager Resources” folder of CU PolicyPro.
